like lots of good educational tools, it's fun, easy-to-use, and (most importantly) you don't realize it's an educational tool. this rework of john conway's famous game features minimalist design that enables play without any instructions (though they are provided). fun and easy on the eyes.

self-organization and emergence illustrated beautifully. maybe a rework of "boids"? not sure. in any case, you could literally watch it for hours in the form of oh, say, a screensaver?
